Possibly an industry first in terms of size and performance, the AD7690 a/d converter delivers data rates up to 400 ksamples/s in either a 3 mm x 5 mm MSOP or 3 mm x 3 mm LFCSP with an 18-bit resolution. At maximum throughput, it dissipates 20 mW and powers down automatically at the end of each conversion. Operating voltage is 5V and an optional I/O supply ensures compatibility with 1.8V, 2.5V, 3V, and 5V logic. Other features include a 102-dB SNR, a DNL of ±1 LSB and integrated track-and-hold. In addition, the converter exhibits no missing bits, pipeline delay, or latency. For less demanding applications, the 18-bit AD7691 with a 250-ksample/s throughput is available in the same package types and sizes as the AD7690. Sampling now with production quantities slated for February 2006, prices for the AD7690 and AD7691 are $19.50 and $14.50 each/1,000, respectively. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
